Hickory Day School’s Admissions Process
For new kindergartners, Hickory Day School accepts applications starting on September 1 of the year previous to the child’s starting date of kindergarten. We begin admissions interviews in January of the enrollment year and continue with those interviews until the class is filled. In general, the maximum number of students in kindergarten is 16.
For other classes, the school uses a rolling-admissions process. Current families receive re-enrollment contracts at the end of January with a return date of the last full day before the President’s Day holiday in February. For other classes with new applicants, we accept students on a rolling basis if there’s room in the class. If the class is full at the time of application, any open spots are filled after current families have a chance to re-enroll in February. If a spot opens after February, it is filled by the next student on the waiting list.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance in the form of tuition grants may be offered based on available funding for qualifying students. Families in need of financial assistance should contact the school business office for additional information. HDS is also an approved recipient of NC opportunities and disabilities grants.
